"
War series"
I'm sorry but I have to go..I wish I could expand on Sophie's art a little bit..When I came across one of her paintings 10 years ago I was struck by the strong filiation(French I know but can't be bothered!) her work had to Rembrandt's at a time when obsession with Modernism was strongly the ordre de jour.
Check her out you'll be dazzled by a unique talent..Absolute mastery...
This is off topic, but check out the headline of this article, then the firs paragraph. I can't decide whether it was a sloppy mistake or if it was calculated to mislead:

Joe this the worse type of manipulation I have ever seen in my whole life. I can't even imagine that such such people would resort to such base and despicable methods..Only excuse..DESPERATION in PR war.

These works are very disturbing...as they were meant to be I guess.
ReplyDeleteShe's in a 'black and white period'.
ReplyDeleteThese pictures in some instances are a vivid depiction of war and the absolute twisting and torture brought upon humanity by such. Black and white cannot accentuate or express with color so it is given to minute detail. In these instances Sophie captures the agony of humanity, by which some have the temerity to suggest that they a liberating people.
ReplyDeleteI have a photograph which captures this twisted agony in Palestine, it is of a child holding another child in hiding, and there is no way to deny the story in this child's face -

Hmmm. The link does not seem to be showing the painting.
ReplyDeleteIncredible photo of the child v...It's one of those things that are tipping the balance in the whole way I'm starting to view my practice as an artist..A storm is brewing.
ReplyDeleteNo I don't think I did. Thank I'll bookmark it.
ReplyDeleteIt works for me.
ReplyDeleteI don't see it either.
