A Rabbi's vision of a one-state solution..huhuh...

OK. It’s time to take off the gloves and start getting truly radical. My proposal for the Jewish state, Medinat Yisrael, may be hated or loved by the Right and the Left – but it is at least a new direction and gets away from the Two State dogma that threatens to destroy the safety of the Jewish State and the dreams and aspirations of the Palestinians. Here it is:

    Just read it. I like this idea :) Nice Rabbi, this Asher Lopatin. His solution would be much better than what exists now. What do you all think?

    why stop there?  why not just pass anti-miscegenation laws, and/or require compulsory vascectomies for all arab males?

    Parts of his proposal are nuts. But at least he is trying. His position would be a reasonable starting point for negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians.  Right of return for Palestinians and unlimited right to move to Israel for all Jews. Palestine (including Israel) could use more highly motivated, intelligent and cultured immigrants. There would need to be a large one time compensation to the Palestinian people. I have already shared how I think that might be calculated.

    This guy is on the right track, but I am so sick of all the business of population ratio in a single state. It reduces human beings to points on a demographic scorecard. How about guarenteeing personal rights in a new state, then it won't matter if "your side" falls behind...plus there won't be pressure on your wife to drop a baby every nine months...also, there will be no need to convert new Jews to maintain a majority...and the very fact that conversion is seriously suggested as a means to keep up the Jewish population sort of shows that Zionism is on shaky ground. Not as many Jews as you may think want to go to Israel even on a vacation.

    It sounds strange to me to state it mildly that this rabbi who's trying to see light in the dark that his vision of a one-state solution has an introduction on how Jews should desperstely try to tip the balance in their favor by calling on all the "potential" Jews in the whole globe!! What a despicable thought!! One would be mistaken to think that this guy has the least compassion to the oppressed people of Palestine. Where he's right is his guess that it's the only solution POSSIBLE and not because its a fair and just solution. Fortunately and coinincidentally, it's a vrery good solution.
