Let's never forget Harold Pinter´s words during his Nobel Prize acceptance speech:
ReplyDelete<span>"The crimes of the United States have been systematic, constant, vicious, remorseless, but very few people have actually talked about them. You have to hand it to America. It has exercised a quite clinical manipulation of power worldwide while masquerading as a force for universal good. It's a brilliant, even witty, highly successful act of hypnosis...It's a scintillating stratagem."</span>
Anyone who rules or acts in this fashion has NO right to the position of authority that they hold. However, we would have a lot of house cleaning to do, because the entire government is complicit in this activity.

The US has even claimed it will use force against the ICC if american citizens are apprehended! ROGUE STATE USA!!! :-P
Rogue indeed. A state with twisted priorities and in which the rule of force is above the rule of law.
ReplyDeleteBTW, "a propos" of rogue states, is any of you following the news coming out of that other failed state South of the border? If any of you is wondering why in Mexico the swine flu is killing so many while none of the infected has died in the USA so far, let me put it in quite blunt but real terms: generations of malnutrition, abject poverty, incredible abuse and overexploitation by a criminal ruling elite. And some of you are amazed of why any young and poor person in his right mind would turn to low level drug-trafficking in order to gain a modicum of power, respect and wealth in Mexico? What other choices do the poor have in Mexico, besides migrating North and risking their lives in the attempt, or spit blood all their life working 12 hours a day for the very few who have obscene amounts of money, and still die young, tired, frustrated and in misery?
But hey, why worry? Isn't there a "hero" in charge of Mexico? -according to Obama's own silly words.
Yes DJ thank you
ReplyDeleteYou are spot on Moy, thanks for shedding light on this.
ReplyDelete<span style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-style: italic;">We are all torturers in America</span></span>
ReplyDeleteAs citizens' outrage over the torture memos heats up, and the US Congress is barraged with calls to appoint a special prosecutor, Americans may be about to commit an egregious miscarriage of justice. Republicans have now accused Democrats in Congress of having "blood on your hands too" in relation to the escalating calls to investigate. I would go further: not only do Congressional Democrats have blood on their hands – but so do we, the American people. And CIA agents may be about to be sacrificed to assuage their – and our – actual and associative guilt.
The suddenly urgent calls by our Congressional Democratic leaders, and even by many of the American people, to prosecute CIA operatives, military men and women and contractors who were certainly involved with, colluded in or turned a blind eye to torture are not only the height of hypocrisy, they are a form of unconscionable scapegoating. The scapegoating is political on the part of Congressional leaders, and psychological on the part of many Americans who are now "shocked" at what was done in their name.
Hello America, <span style="font-weight: bold;">were you asleep for the past seven years</span>? The fact that the Bush administration used torture has been the furthest thing from a secret. When the political winds were with the last administration, which framed qualms about torture as being soft on "the war on terror", just about every Congressional Democrat fell right into line to accept it, if not cheer it on. Even Hillary Clinton supported torture – right up through her presidential run. Nancy Pelosi was briefed on the torture in closed-door meetings. When activist groups and citizens called for a special prosecutor, all we heard from Congressional Democrats was how they did not wish to spend the political capital.
War is torture, writ large.

You claim to speak for all Americans again, felching. You don't realize how ridiculous you come across when you say that. In fact you can't even speak for yourself = "demionize us". Go back to elementary school or at least get a spell-check.
ReplyDeleteFleming I have the impression you got me confussed with someone else. I don't care what USAmericans think. I really don't. Why should I, if your own ruling elites give a damn about what the majority of the US people think? The war against the Iraqi people has been going on now for over six years, with an overwhelming majority of USAmericans opposing it. Does the Pentagon care? No. Does the CIA care? No. Does Washington REALLY care? No. Does the corporate media care? No. Do oil companies care? No. Does the military-industrial complex care? No. Does Wall Street care. No. See, no one with any REAl power in the US gives rat's ass for USAmericans and their opinions, so why should I? The day I see true democracy and true accountability and true justice and truthful information on the US media, and common people having some say in the way things are being conducted from the top of the nation's power-pyramid, THEN I will be truly concerned about what USmericans think. Not before.
